Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)
Our Certified Nurse Aide Program meets all requirements for the New York State Certified Nurse Aide Examination.
This course prepares the student to work in a healthcare facility as a nursing assistant or care partner. Instruction and practice of basic patient care skills required for Certified Nursing Assistants in New York State is provided.
Students learn to meet the physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural needs of residents and patients. Skills practiced include: assistance with personal care, transfers, ambulation, positioning, communication techniques, measuring vital signs, and intake and output. The student will practice supervised patient care in a clinical setting prior to completion of the program.
The student must successfully complete all objectives of the course, including exams, laboratory skills performance, and the clinical experience. In order to sit for the New York State Certified Nurse Aide Exam, the student must meet the following requirements:
- 90 hours of classroom and lab instruction (Week 1 - 3)
- 30 hours of clinical experience (Week 4)
- 120 total hours of CNA Training (Weeks 1 - 4)
The CNA Program is a 5-week course. The NYS CNA Exam is offered during Week 5; this week includes 2 days of Exam Preparation, and 1 day for the CNA Exam.

Students will need scrubs, healthcare appropriate shoes, and a watch with a second hand for this program.
provides assistance with funding for local demand occupations. CNA is included on this list. CSS Workforce NY will provide up to $1,800 for tuition. On a case by case evaluation of the student鈥檚 needs, supportive services may be available up to $150. Additionally, should the student qualify per the CSS Workforce NY Travel Policy up to $200 in mileage.
Cancellations with less than 3 days notice or failure to attend (No Shows) the first day of class will not qualify for a refund or reduction of charges.
Students may cancel 3 days or more prior to the day of class and receive a full refund. We solidify dates with instructors 3 days prior to the start of the class (or reschedule/cancel) and it is dependent upon enrollment. Cancellations with less than 3 days notice can not be refunded).
