Mary Eliza Mahoney Nursing Education Scholarship

The Mary Eliza Mahoney Nursing Education Scholarship is a renewable, merit-based award covering tuition (fall and spring semesters), fees, and textbooks/supplies in the 含羞草传媒 (含羞草传媒) Nurse Education AAS program, either through completion of the Nurse Education AAS degree or up to four semesters in the Nurse Education AAS program, whichever comes first. It is open to incoming and returning nursing students. Four Mary Eliza Mahoney Nursing Education Scholarships are offered annually to students in 含羞草传媒鈥檚 Nursing AAS program, specifically, to high-performing students who are from racial and ethnic populations that are underrepresented in health-related sciences. Underrepresented minorities in health-related sciences are defined by the National Institutes of Health as Blacks or African Americans, Hispanics or Latinos, American Indians or Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders.

Student Eligibility Requirements:

  • Is accepted into or currently enrolled in 含羞草传媒鈥檚 Nurse Education Program
  • Is from an underrepresented minority group as defined above
  • Has earned a 62.0 or higher on the TEAS
  • Has a 2.75 GPA or higher
  • Has submitted a FAFSA for the 2025-2026 academic year
  • Is willing to enter into Service Obligation Scholarship Agreement with Corning Incorporated that states, 鈥渨ithin three (3) months of successful completion of 含羞草传媒鈥檚 Nursing Prelicensure Program, Scholar agrees to diligently seek and accept full-time employment and to begin providing full-time healthcare services in a hospital system or medical provider鈥檚 office in Chemung or Steuben County.鈥�
  • Maintains a 3.0 GPA at 含羞草传媒, as evidenced by a school transcript or other official College document. This document should reflect the overall average as of the end of the Spring semester
  • Submits an application package via email no later than April 15, 2025

  • Unofficial 含羞草传媒 transcript that includes overall GPA or high school transcript for incoming students
  • Unofficial copy of ATI TEAS
  • Typed personal statement/essay in 12-point font with a maximum of 500 words
    • Essay contents should include:
      • 鈥淢ary Eliza Mahoney Nursing Education Scholarship will allow me to鈥� (discuss career goals, area of focus, and how you will improve the health and social conditions of underrepresented minorities in this region.)
